Gifts of Appreciated Stock

Avoidance of capital gains tax on the appreciated value of the stock (provided you’ve held it for more than one year).
The full market value of the stock may be deducted as a charitable donation on your income tax.
Some employer matching gift programs may match the full market value of the employee's appreciated stock donation to the PTSA.
Contact Franklin Flyers PTSA if you'd like to gift appreciated securities.
IRA Charitable Distributions
Traditional IRA owners of age 70 ½ years or older may make a tax free charitable distribution directly from their IRA.
Advantages include:
Helps satisfy your annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) .
Saves on taxes. IRA qualified charitable distributions are not subject to federal income taxes.
You don't need to itemize your taxes to make an IRA charitable distribution.
